How to Evaluate Electric Scooter Suspension, Tires and Brakes

Three items often deserve more attention than a headline speed figure: suspension, tires and brakes. They shape how a scooter responds to surface changes, how it contacts the ground, and how a rider can slow down in a controlled way. This guide explains what to look for in a product specification, using the KuKirin G4 Ultra Electric Scooter as a concrete example.

Start with what the specification actually says

Look for precise component language rather than broad labels. For the G4 Ultra, the user manual specifies front and rear shock absorbers, 11-inch tubeless tires, and front and rear disc brakes with power cut-off braking. These are specific features a shopper can verify on the product listing and in the manual.

Suspension: identify the location

“Suspension” alone does not explain where the system is fitted. A front-and-rear setup means shock absorbers are listed at both ends of the scooter. That is a more useful comparison point than a generic comfort claim, especially when a route includes varied pavement or uneven surfaces.

Tires: size and construction matter
